WaterPower Canada welcomes Industry Strategy Council Report on Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery

WaterPower Canada welcomes today’s release of the Industry Strategy Council’s report that details findings on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on industries, and recommendations to position for the post-pandemic economic recovery.  The report highlights the enormous economic opportunities that: decarbonisation; electrification; inter-provincial electricity transmission; and hydrogen production and utilization, presents for Canada.

“There could not be a better time to integrate our: post-pandemic economic recovery; long-term industrial strategy; and progress toward achieving our 2030 and 2050 greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets” said Patrick Bateman, Interim President, WaterPower Canada. “The Council’s report recognizes the importance of decarbonization for Canada’s future economic competitiveness.  A dramatic expansion of clean and renewable electricity, and the electrification of  industry, transport and buildings are an imperative that underlies this. The waterpower sector can be the reliable and resilient backbone for our energy transition”.
