WPC x EHRC Webinar | Powering the Next Generation: Closing Hydropower’s Talent Gap

Canada’s hydropower sector is facing a significant workforce challenge. As infrastructure investments accelerate and experienced workers retire, attracting and preparing the next generation of talent has become a strategic priority for employers across the country.

In partnership with Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC), this members-only webinar will examine national labour market trends shaping Canada’s energy workforce and what they mean specifically for hydropower. Drawing on workforce research and industry data, the discussion will highlight emerging skills gaps, demographic pressures, and long-term recruitment challenges facing the sector.

WaterPower Canada will also introduce HydroFutures, a new national platform designed to strengthen hydro’s talent pipeline by connecting students and early-career professionals with meaningful career opportunities across Canada.

Join us for a forward-looking discussion connecting national workforce intelligence with practical sector action to help close hydropower’s talent gap.

Speakers:

  • Lorena Patterson, President & CEO, WaterPower Canada
  • Mark Chapeskie, Vice President of Programs, Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC)
