Canada launches HydroFutures to tackle workforce gap

WaterPower Canada has announced the launch of HydroFutures, a national careers hub designed to connect the next generation of workers with opportunities across the country’s waterpower sector.

The initiative comes as hydropower, which is already responsible for more than 60% of Canada’s electricity generation, faces growing demand for skilled labour to support grid expansion, modernisation efforts and the development of new projects, including those involving Indigenous partnerships.

HydroFutures is positioned as a central platform for students and early-career professionals to explore career pathways in the sector. It will provide access to job listings, employer connections and information on roles spanning skilled trades, engineering and technical disciplines.
